Wedding at Cana of Galilee Jesus First Miracle
John 2 Wedding at Cana of Galilee
By looking at the phrase, "When the wine ran out", (John 2:1), one sees the significance of that moment. The wine had to run out first. Jesus Christ is illustrating moments like this and showing us that events do not happen out of the blue. There is a time for everything before a fulfillment. Just like the book of Ecclesiastes 3, " There is an appointed time for everything, for every under Heaven. A time to give birth and a time to die. "
Turning the water into wine at the wedding of Cana is very significant. For one it was Jesus Christ's first miracle; it was his Mother that asked Him to perform it. He did perform his first miracle even though he did not want to. Because he says, " My Hour has not yet come", ( John 2:3). This is how much He loves his Mother. And what position she holds as being the Mother of God. At the end of the Bible in the Book of Revelations a woman appears in Heaven that is Mary. In many cultures and countries around the World they dedicate a day specifically for Her. Even the Prayer dedicated to her is important in the Catholic religion because it is called, "The Rosary". It is believed the saying The Rosary Prayer is like putting a blow to the Devil's Head. The Wedding at Cana is the Second Mystery of Light said in The Mysteries of the Rosary .
Jesus Christ said to the wedding servants, " Fill the waterpots with water", so they filled them up to the brim"; ( John 2:5 ). What is the significance of the water pot being filled to the brim? There were 6 stone waterpots 20 or 30 gallons each. One gallon equals 3.785 liters. That is almost 454.2 litres or more than 455 bottles of wine; most wine bottles today have 175 ml, not even a liter. So assuming that one gallon is almost 3.185 lites, then (20 gallons x 3.785 liters = 75.7 liters x 6 waterpots= 454.2 litres)

The headwaiter is given the unknown origin of the wine to his knowledge. He tastes it and likes the taste. Then the headwaiter calls the bridegroom after tasting the wine, which he says is similar to when Jesus Christ says, “the Last will be First”. Jesus Christ's statement, "The Last will be First," is found in the Gospel of Saint Matthew chapter 19 verse 30 and chapter 20 verse 16 .
In Gospel of John chapter 2 verse 10, the Apostle John writes that the headwaiter says to the wedding party, "Every man serves the good wine first, and when the people have drunk freely, then he serves the poor one[wine]; [but] you have kept the good wine until now." Because the headwaiter says, "until now", it is a parallel to what is happening. Jesus Christ from that moment on will be recognized truly as the Son of God. From that moment on, things begin to change for humanity. Also putting His life in danger by performing his first miracle will make him persecuted.
